Living Sculpture
Beauty in decayThis series explores the concept of objectification. Often equated with misogyny and denounced by feminism, objectification may just be a natural part of life. People are things after all, and we make decisions on how we interact with them at a base level far beyond the control or influence of any "higher social order" we might personally subscribe to. At the same time if we give in to objectification in its purest sense, do we lose sight of the rest of our lives. Would someone who purchased women as objects of art have enough money to live in a comfortable environment or is it more likely that the indulgence would lead to discomfort on other levels?

Motion Nudes
Beauty and life are always in motion, even those almost imperceptible movements of heart and mind occur constantly. This series documents the nude form, one of our most common subject matters, in motion. It often shows a contrast between what we’d like to see and what we can concentrate on.

select imagesThe landscapes chosen for various art shows were produced between the years 2003 and 2005 in the United States within 100 miles of major metropolitan areas. The goal of the pastoral scenes is to remind us that even though we’ve progressed fast and far, there is still simple beauty within reach.

Cityscape photo shows
select imagesTo offer a counterpoint to the pastoral landscapes, the Cityscape series were often shown in conjunction. Both series were produced as single run signed prints via archival process on Hahnemühle Photo Rag. Both series are also still available for exhibition and sale.

Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, James Jackson is a freelance photographer specializing in lifestyle, editorial fashion, beauty, and commercial photography. James also services the west coast via Seattle, Wa. and the North East by way of New York City, NY. Photography as both an art form and a communications tool is more important in the age of digital and wireless than at any other time in history. We now increasingly turn to the instant reception of information allowed by the visual representation of thoughts and ideas rather than trying to communicate those same thoughts through words. Language barriers are easily overcome with images, and during this time of globalization, it is becoming a key issue to communicate through image effectively. It is the skill of photographers that allows this communication to happen and the talent of these artists to transmit a clear message. James Jackson has been communicating his message through photography since 1995 in a professional and artistic manner. Currently, James is expanding his portfolio with lifestyle, editorial fashion, and beauty photography, and is working with major fashion and catalog clients. James’ freelance photography experiences encompass both studio and location shooting. |
